Quadrant I is for the immediate and important deadlines. You want to avoid this quadrant as much as possible. Do this by being proactive with your schedule, empowering your team to complete the bulk of the work.
Quadrant II is for long-term strategizing and development. This is where you as the leader should be spending the bulk of your time. Growing and developing the most critical aspects of the organization’s success (People, Systems, Prospecting, Strategy).
Quadrant III is for time pressured distractions. They are not really important, but someone wants it now. When these items come to you, you must immediately identify that either a system is broken or doesn’t exist. Schedule 30 minutes to teach someone else how to do this next time.
Quadrant IV is for those activities that yield little in any value. These are activities that are often used for taking a break in time pressured and important activities. Stop doing these things altogether.
Each day you should spend 15 minutes reflecting upon your day and identifying one thing you did today, that you should not do tomorrow. Schedule a time to teach someone else in the organization how to complete this task moving forward. Watch my video.
