Purchasing a strong curriculum does not guarantee that students will receive standards-aligned instruction.
Leaders must still determine:
Which academic standards will guide instruction?
How does the curriculum align with those standards?
Where are the gaps?
What should teachers supplement, adjust or remove?
How will we verify consistency across classrooms?
Do not assume teachers have the time or expertise to figure this out independently.
Good intentions purchase the curriculum. Intentional action creates the clarity, training and accountability needed to implement it well.
Could your teachers clearly explain what they teach, why they teach it and how it aligns with your standards?
Let’s identify the systems that could improve that clarity.
